Brushing

Our Real European Human Extension Hair should be gently untangled using the Imperial brush.
Brush your hair in the morning, when needed during the day, and most importantly before going to bed. Always brush your hair in sections. Start Brushing from the ends of the hair and work up to the scalp area. ALWAYS BRUSH YOUR SCALP. The imperial brush is designed to brush over your beads helping with shedding and matting.

When going to bed- hair extensions should be braided into a loose braid, or worn in a loose, low ponytail. If desired, purchase a silk or satin pillowcase to help retain moisture in your hair and the extensions to prevent damage.
Brush your hair thoroughly before shampooing and conditioning using a bristle brush, a loop brush, or a soft rounded wide tooth comb. (Imperial brush)

Washing your Hair

Apply shampoo by emulsifying the shampoo in your hands, dab and gently distribute throughout the hair. Do not rub where the hair extensions are attached – be gentle!! ONLY apply shampoo to your scalp and ONLY apply conditioner to your ends.
We recommend keeping a wide tooth comb or wet brush in your shower. Comb your hair to distribute the conditioner throughout your hair. ALWAYS brush from the ends up.

IF conditioner is applied to the areas where the hair extensions are attached, it may cause them to soften and could make the hair start shedding. As well as cause your beads to slip out.
It is recommended to shampoo your hair two to three times a week, in the morning or during the day. If you need to shampoo in the evening, make absolute certain that your hair is FULLY dry throughout the extensions before going to bed.

Styling

When drying your hair with a blow dryer, setting should be on medium to low heat, avoid any damage by being careful and staying away from the attachments of your hair extensions. First, comb your hair thoroughly with your Imperial Brush, always starting from the ends and work your way to your scalp. Lift hair carefully and blow dry from a top-down direction.

IF you can invest in irons of better quality this will extend the lifespan of your hair. (blow driers, straightener, curling irons, curlers, and wavers) Heat can soften the attachment, make your extensions slide, and can damage the weft. Always use heat tools on a medium-low to low setting. Excessive use of styling products and high heat should be avoided. These are elements that will shorten the lifespan of your hair extensions, and are also not good for your own natural hair.

Products

Styling products and products like common over the counter shampoos and conditioners can build up and dry out your hair. These are meant for the instant gratification of creating shiny or bouncy hair, but will often contain harsh agents and other content that will tangle and matte your hair extensions. It will strip your natural hair of all the good healthy natural minerals and oils.
WE CAN ONLY GUARENTEE OUR HAIR WHEN OUR RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS ARE USED ON THE EXTENSIONS.

If you have questions or need recommendations for products, please reach out to your stylist.
We sell high quality products for your extensions at our salon. The lifespan of your hair depends a lot on the products you choose to use on your hair.

Avoid products containing:
• Moroccan/Argan Oil • Alcohol • Sulfates and Parabens

  • Avoid using products bought over the counter or available to you from places such as:

• Drugstores • Hotels • Sally’s • Walmart • Smiths • All a dollar • Grocery Store

Swimming

NEVER USE SPRAY SUNSCREEN ON YOURSELF OR BE NEAR SOMEONE SPRAYING SUNSCREEN.
If you swim regularly, we highly recommend wearing a swim cap to protect your hair. Before swimming always wet the hair with clean water and add conditioner to the extension hair 2” down from the attachment to the ends of hair, then braid it and put on the swim cap.

If you forgot to bring a swim cap, wet your hair, apply the conditioner, and braid it or clip it up. Try to keep your hair above water.

Wetting your hair with clean water and applying conditioner will provide some protection by creating a barrier against the harsh chemicals or ocean water. Also, it will keep your hair from soaking up the sunscreen or other Lotion from your face and body.
Shampoo and condition your hair as soon as possible after you finish swimming.

Sun & Beach

Use a hat or bandana to cover up your hair when you're out in the sun. This will prevent the sun from drying out your hair and fading the color, and the sand from penetrating into the attachments of your extensions.
IF at any time, your hair gets immersed in chlorine, or salt water without applying conditioner and braiding it first. DO NOT brush your hair. Get in the shower ASAP. Shampoo your hair. When conditioner is applied, brush your hair with a wide tooth comb or wet brush starting from the ends and work your way up.

IF you are going to immerse your hair in chlorine or salt water, prepare yourself ahead of time. Wet your hair, apply conditioner, and braid your hair. Also, take a leave in conditioner (smooth again by Kevin Murphy) and bring your wet brush. If your hair falls out of your braid, apply smooth again to your hair and gently brush from the ends up. Re-braid after.

Hair Extensions Changing Colors

It can be rare, but depending on the wear and care of your hair extensions they can change colors. We have to remember that the hair is no longer attached to the scalp and doesn't receive the natural nutrients or protection it needs from the body. This makes the hair more porous and prone to changing the pigments to more orange, peachy. or brassy. With proper care we can prevent this from happening. Common triggers to avoid are

  • UV Exposure/Tanning Beds

  • Sunscreen

  • Water Mineral Content

  • Chlorine

  • Sea Water

  • Heavy Metals

  • Sulfates & Parabens

By using the proper product and avoiding these factors we can stop this from happening!
